I just a have a subtle little necklace for you today. An understated piece you could throw on with yoga pants for a trip to the grocery store or a coffee run. It’s barely visible.
JK. This multi-strand natural pearl and diamond necklace is a megawatt, in-your-face nonstop neck festival of serious glamour.
Holy diamonds, batman.
Let’s break it down:
The heart of this piece is the seven lush layers of alternating pearl and diamond strands. The diamonds strands are all rose-cuts, which would catch the light in a glorious gently diffused shimmering explosion of lovliness. The pearl strands comprise two hundred and sixteen(!!!) natural pearls, ranging in size from 3.95 to 10.30 mm and spaced with itty bitty seed pearls for additional amazingness.
The seven magnificent pearl and diamond strands hang from a circular-cut diamond link neckchain in 18k white gold. This neckchain – the links across the back – is adjustable, so this curtain of beauty could hang at a variety of lengths.
The piece is further embellished by a sensual, unbelievably elegant double tassel with two strands of rose cut diamonds, diamond beads, and and natural pearls. One of the tassel strands ends with a larger baroque-shaped natural pearl topped with a circular-cut diamond cap. The baroque pearl is sized 17.30 x 12.90 x 10.80 mm.
I love how the seven strands are so carefully attached to the 18k diamond neckchain. Look at where the chain meets the strands: each strand is carefully attached to its own loop, all precisely spaced so as to not overlap.
I would like every celebrity who’s ever walked a red carpet with a bare neck to look at this necklace and reconsider their poor life choices. With something like this necklace in the world, there’s no excuse for under-adornment.
This fabulous multi-strand natural pearl and diamond necklace was listed in a recent Christie’s auction. All images and info are thanks to Christie’s.

This pearl necklace is such a stunning jewellery piece. I’m always an admirer of pearls, and the timelessness and elegance they bring to any design. This undoubtedly is an eye-catching design, and flaunts glamour and sophistication. Diamonds and pearls are a very complimentary combination, and this particular styling with the double tassel makes the design that much more captivating.

YES. Take your 10ctw studs and stacked antique diamond bracelets and GO HOME, Reese Witherspoon. If something like this isn’t on the red carpet next February I’m boycotting. (Except not really, but you get the gist.)
Becky says
AMEN. I’m with you. We can fake boycott together! If the celebs fail us again…hopefully they’ll have realized they need to take our advice by then 😉

That is truly one of the most stunning necklaces I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Wish I could afford that for my mom for Mother’s Day!

p.s. I love your remark “poor life choices” – I almost sputtered coffee all over my keyboard!

Any day I almost make someone spit out their coffee is a day I’ve done good work 😉

I’m swooning over this necklace! When I have a few more minutes (have to get out do grocery shopping feed the fam tonight) I’m checking out the Christies listing; I wonder how old this piece is, where it came from, etc.
Love the small pearls in between the larger ones; I wonder if there are tiny knots between them? I hope so; it’ll keep the pearls from abrading each other at the drill holes. It’s really hard to get graduated strands (no matter what they’re made of) to nest perfectly when they’re coming from end caps like these are. And the diamond-set chain links on the back are perfection! And the two long hanging strands – yum!
Magnificent piece, thanks for sharing!

I wish I knew more too – really I wanted an extreme detail shot of the strands, like you, so that I could more intimately understand the construction happening here. Sadly, Christie’s didn’t provide anything bigger than what I’ve got here.
The graduated strands rock my world, too. I wish I’d had the chance to try on this beauty to make sure they fall as well as it looks like they would.
