Belle Epoque diamond necklace.

Bonus post! Happy 2013!

This necklace is like visual Xanax. I look at it and I feel a happy, floaty assurance that everything is okay.

Made in 1910, this lovely, lovely thing is really more of a choker – it measures a mere 13.5 inches. It’s designed as a pierced old mine-cut diamond scalloped band, bezel-set along the center with a graduated series of old mine-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum. I’m not sure what I’d wear it with, but I know for damn sure I’d make it work somehow if I ever had the chance.

Brumani Sissi Collection necklace and earrings.

I’ve been more than a little fascinated by Empress Sissi since I first saw replicas of her diamond stars on display at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. (BTW that is a totally random website, but it has the most and best pictures of the diamond stars that I could find.)

Below are a pair of earrings and a necklace from the Brumani Sissi Couture Collection, which, as you may have surmised, was inspired by the Empress Sissi.

Brumani Sissi Collection morganite and diamond earrings. Via Diamonds in the Library. The earrings are set with diamonds and morganite drops. They’re bold with delicate details. They’re lovely and would go wonderfully with abundant dark hair like Sissi’s.

I love the subtle wildness of the unevenly-set diamonds on the larger hoops. It’s such a wonderful contrast to the elegance of the pretty pink morganites. And those central morganite drops look like they’re articulated to tremble with the wearer’s movement.

This Brumani Sissi collection necklace is also set with morganite and diamonds. I think this set is gorgeous and it’s begging to be worn with a rich, jewel-toned gown. You can always count on attention to detail and superb craftsmanship in Brumani’s pieces.

This necklace displays the same slightly chaotic diamond placement as the earrings and I may love it even more here. I’d love to see this beauty in action, with the diamonds catching the light as its lucky wearer moves (through a royal ballroom or a grocery store or wherever she may need to be). And how delicious is that large morganite drop?

BFD necklace.

I recently learned a new term: BFD. It describes this necklace perfectly.

I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to tell you that this necklace is impressive. But in case you’re not convinced, here’s a closeup.

Via Diamonds in the Library.This baby, previously owned by an unnamed Lady of title, is described by Sotheby’s as “highly important.” The V-shaped necklace is set with baguette diamonds and decorated at the front with a line of brilliant-cut stones.

The description doesn’t give a total diamond weight, but to give you an idea: that pear-shaped drop alone is 41.40 carats. The pear-shaped drop is detachable, in case you want to carry it around in your pocket and feel good about yourself (or put it on a plainer chain for a less fancy red carpet event?).
