It’s May somehow, and that means Mother’s Day is just around the corner! If you don’t have your gifts sorted out yet (or if you’re a lady looking to treat yourself) my favorite piece of mama jewelry right now is Sofia Zakia‘s Cygnus necklace.
Isn’t it lovely? I love how subtle it is, and so sweet. It’s not overt mama jewelry, but anyone who looks at for more than a few seconds will feel the love in this adorable little feathered family.
It may be true that the best Mother’s Day gifts are handmade, but maybe this year you should consider investing in one that’s handmade by a Canadian goldsmith in 14 karat yellow with diamonds and a trio of hand-etched swans.
You may recognize Sofia Zakia’s name from her adorable Halloween collection, which we looked at in the fall. If you like any of her work, I highly recommend looking at the rest of her designs: I adore her soulful, whimsical style.
The image is sweet, but the piece overall is elegant, sophisticated, and eminently wearable.
Since I’m not a mama myself, I haven’t spent much time thinking about Mother’s Day jewelry…but there is the occasional piece that stands out to me because it’s just so fabulous.
It’s possible that I feel like the Cygnus necklace is an extra-perfect piece of mama jewelry because my own mom loves birds (especially this bird). For Mother’s Day, we’ll probably take a family outing to a local garden to see the goslings. They don’t have swans there, but those goslings are seriously adorable.
Sofia Zakia’s Cygnus pendant is named after the swan constellation (translated from French cygne, for baby swan).
If you’re looking for more chic mama jewelry options, I suggest checking out Elisa Solomon’s designs and also these two cuties by Nora Kogan.
