The demise of Google Reader approaches. This saddens me as much as the next blog-reader, but we must face facts. It looks to me like a number of you are still following me through good old g-reader, and I don’t want to lose you just because we’re going to lose it.

Please consider joining me on Bloglovin’. I know it’s not the least stupidly named reader of all time, but trust me when I say I’ve tried most of the free Google Reader alternatives out there and this is my favorite. It has a big, no-nonsense display, an easy-to-use labeling system (you know how I like to organize), and no-fuss following.

Bloglovin’ also lets you transfer all of your Google Reader subscriptions with very minimal effort – the “Settings” page has an “Import blogs” button that will lead you through the process. I transfered all of my feeds from two different Google accounts into one Bloglovin’ account with no trouble.

I was recently hired by Book Riot, a fabulous website about all things book related, to become a contributing writer for their site. This means that I’ll be writing for them a few times a month. I love Book Riot and am very excited to be joining their blogging family.

In order to give myself enough time for everything, I’m going to scale back my jewelry posts a bit. Yesterday was my last weekend post. That’s why you get three rings this afternoon – to soften the blow.

To keep you from going into jewelry withdrawal between Friday and Monday, I recommend browsing my index of pretty shiny things, visiting the oodles of bling available on my Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr or going in search of your own treasures with the aid of my jewelry store directory .

Now, on to the pretties!

Art Deco sapphire, diamond, and emerald ring, circa 1915. A cushion-cut sapphire within a shaped cushion double border of emeralds and diamonds, and emerald line shoulders.

I first saw this baby on Pinterest and I’ve been dying to give you a nice big picture of it. As I mentioned, it’s Art Deco – circa 1915. A cushion-cut sapphire glows within a shaped cushion double border of emeralds and diamonds, and is further embellished by emerald line shoulders. A bright, glorious ring.

This ring is simpler overall, but still colorful and bold. It’s slightly later, from 1925. A large, oval cut cabochon amethyst set within a tapered frame set with rose and cushion cut diamonds, mounted in platinum. I’m not sure how practical it would be to wear such a large cabochon in everyday life, but it certainly makes for a dramatic piece. I just love how the geometric crown of diamonds cradles the amethyst.

Last but not least, this ring is less colorful but no less appealing. Dated only as “early 20th century,” this piece is Art Deco but not much more is known about its history. It’s set with one larger diamond within an onyx frame and further embellished by an outer diamond border and onyx details to the sides. I think it’s just wonderful; all bold, graphic elegance.
