That’s not a typo! Post-awards show days were my very favorite when I had a boring desk job and I still adore them: it’s so fun seeing what all the celebs wore and what reactions those fashion statements have elicited from the internet at large.
It’s 4 pm on a Monday, so you definitely deserve a break by now. Bring on the #OscarJewelry recaps!
“A lot has happened since last year’s Oscars. Revelations and repercussions have reverberated through the industry as secrets came to light and tyrants fell. The upheaval even affected red carpet fashion, with actresses using the commodity they are the most frequently reduced to – appearance – to take a stand against abuse.
I’ve always known that the entertainment industry was full of talented women, but the #MeToo movement has taught me that it’s full of strong women, too. Some of them may look like pretty dolls, but they’re warrior queens.“

Loved to see Gal Gadot wearing such lovely neck piece at the Oscar event.

I agree!! Such a stunning necklace. I love a bold red carpet choice.

loved your article! 2 thoughts on the whole jewelry thing though- do you know of any site that shows just the jewels? some of the photos, while beautiful, are too small to see the details of the jewels, and loved alison janney’s riviera necklace- i’ve seen these in auction catalogs but never saw one worn by a real woman! now i see the appeal of this style.

It was a pretty good year for Oscars jewelry, wasn’t it?
I completely agree with your point about the photos. The problem is that we jewelry loving people are completely at the mercy of the celebrities and major photographers for events like these. Unless the photographers happen to zoom in on the jewelry or the jewelry houses, celebrities, stylists, or other people involved in the styling process decide to snap and share a jewelry photo, red carpet shots are all we get.
And I’m completely with you on Alison Janney’s necklace! That style can seem boring, but once you see it in action – especially one that luscious – it’s easy to see why it’s a classic.
Thanks so much for commenting, Kat!

What a great recap of all the recaps: so handy to have them all in one place! Thanks for including me! I had the same reaction to Lupita’s glasses. So rare to see someone unselfconscious about them. I’d love to invite her over for dinner, wouldn’t you?
Becky says
Yes, definitely!!! She is a major asset to #TeamGlasses and spectacularly impressive and fascinating in many other ways besides.
I always look forward to your recaps!
