Zoom jewelry: statement earrings under $250.

I’ve tried a number of approaches to Zoom jewelry and the results are definitive: the best way to make sure your accessories are Zoom-friendly is to go BIG. That means the biggest and most spectacular of statement earrings.

There’s no jewelry more fun than statement earrings: they’re a giant adornment that you wear right next to your face! But the truth is they can be a bit tricky to wear: they can be heavy on the ear, especially when you’re wearing them all day.

Zoom offers the chance for your statement earrings to be seen in shorter intervals, while you’re in your home and can easily take your earrings off and stash them in a safe place in your lobes start to complain. It’s perfect.

I once changed my earrings five times during a single Zoom cocktail party. I hadn’t been able to decide which statement pair to wear, so I had them all next to me in a box and I just swapped them out every 20 minutes or so. It was extremely entertaining.

What’s cool about these Bneu Made earrings (besides everything) is that they’re actually made from gold leather, so they’re incredibly light.

They’d be great as Zoom jewelry but you can also wear them anytime, anywhere. I have a different pair from this artist and they’re the most comfortable statement earrings I’ve ever owned.

What I’m Reading: Vol. 113.

Hello my darlings,  

There’s a subtle but delicious chill in the air that tells me it really is late September, even if it’s hard to have any real sense of the passage of time this year (has 2020 been going on for 15 minutes or 5,000 years?). I hope that you’re all holding up okay as the seasons change. 

You may have noticed that I’ve been posting a little bit more often and I’m so happy about it! After three years of trying to get a handle on my  mysterious chronic illness situation, I feel like I have finally settled into a pattern that leaves me with a little bit more space in my brain for fun things. I’m still sick – I may always be sick – but I’m very slowly getting a little better at managing at all and that means I have more mental bandwidth for blog posts, at least for now. 

On that note: I want to bring your attention to a new page! Jewelry Books now have there very own page right here, separate from my overall list of book reviews. It includes titles, mini summaries, and links to reviews. I have three more jewelry books sitting on my dining room table waiting to be reviewed (and more on my shelf) so standby for more of that soon.

What I’m reading:

Fire by Kristen Cashore: Indiebound/Amazon

I’ve reread this book and this series several times and I’m still absolutely blown away by it. An intricate world with fascinating and fiercely feminist female main characters. A great rec for someone who’s craving YA fantasy but doesn’t want to revisit Harry Potter at the moment because they’re still too angry about the author’s hateful public transphobia. (Okay, that reader is me: I’m craving YA fantasy comfort but I’m too angry at JK Rowling to enjoy Harry Potter.) 

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton: Indiebound/Amazon

This book is great! It’s largely an allegory for our society’s unhealthy obsession with body image and beauty, but still tells a fascinating story in an interesting world. The world-building is gorgeously elaborate in a way that makes me picture the universe as looking like a Baz Luhrmann movie.  It’s an enthralling and beautiful story and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

It’s clear that VOTE jewelry is one of the biggest trends of the fall, which is understandable, since the upcoming 2020 US presidential election is – what’s the best way to say this? – a big one.

If you’re a US Citizen over 18 and you have any interest in how the US is run, you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to make your voice heard by voting.

Today is National Voter Registration Day, so this is the perfect moment for you to nail down your 2020 voting plan if you haven’t already got it all figured out. I just requested my mail in ballot a couple days ago and I’m so glad that it’s taken care of. Now I just have to keep an eye out for when it arrives so that I can mail it in nice and early!

It’s okay if you haven’t figured out your voting plans yet, because today is a great day to get it done. I’ve gathered together some useful links below:

Please remember that if you’re voting by mail, you first have to request a ballot and that deadline is sometime in October for most states. October…as in next week. This varies state by state, but you don’t want to miss it. The online ballot request form for Maryland took me maybe 3 minutes.

It’s your right to vote and I say it’s equally your right to be well-accessorized when doing so!
