I hope you have a marvelous day today, whether it’s a significant date to you or not.

PS: Please note that the fabulous lady in this 1950’s Dior ad is wearing glorious jewelry, including a backwards necklace. How on-trend!

It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it, darlings? A new website and logo, adventures in far away lands, a proposal of marriage, seeing my jewelry hero’s jewels in person, helping a celebrity get some free bling, joining the Book Riot staff and the DC Ladies book club, attending my first JCK show, reading hundreds of books (well, 106, according to my Goodreads list), and getting to try on so many wonderful sparkly things.
I’m going to take a little Winter break to wrap presents, catch up on my GIA classes, sip champagne at midnight, and work on some fabulous things I have waiting for you in January. Here are a few of my favorite posts of 2013 to keep you entertained in my absence. (The photos are links, just click though.)
I’ll see you in 2014!
xoxo,
Becky
I must admit: I currently have a backlog of jewelry photos to show you. That means I met so much fabulous bling in 2013 that I’ve been unable to keep up with posting it. This is great news for everyone, because it means there more goodness to come.
Some weeks ago, I had the pleasure of an invitation from Mervis Diamonds to join them for a JB Star trunk show. I blocked off a morning and headed over, and I was very glad I did. JB Star’s fine jewelry is all handmade in New York and has a reputation for seriously impressive, expertly-cut and well-set stones.
JB Star rings often have large center stones, but they’re more than that. Just look at the detail on the side of this sapphire stunner.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve been seeing some sneak previews of the JB Star rings I met there. I was particularly partial to the emeralds.
This ruby also had gorgeous side details, a delicate contrast to the bold overall design.
I also had the pleasure of trying on this paraiba tourmaline. The color of the paraiba wasn’t quite the breathtaking electric greenish blue of the Rina Limor paraiba earrings I fell for at JCK Privé NY, but it’s still a stunning stone.
Thought you might want to see big blue in action.
Please note: it was physically impossible for me to fit more than 4 of these diamond JB Star rings on my hand at once time. That’s not something that often happens. SERIOUS bling.
I fell hard for this sapphire. It’s smaller than most of the other JB Star rings I saw that day, but OH what a sapphire.
Here’s a diamond band in all its sparkling glory.
Thanks to JB Starr for making such pretties for us to admire, and to Mervis Diamonds for inviting me try on their JB Starr rings!
