Hello, my dears!
I’m back from my adventures and I have SO many goodies to show you. While I sort through my photos (I came home with about 7,000 new snaps) I’ve put together a recap of some stunners I saw back at GlobalDESIGN show.
Every once in a while, I come across a designer who is doing something so totally unique and remarkable that I totally geek out.
This is TAP by Todd Pownell:
Look at those diamonds! They’re upside-down (it’s called pavilion-side up) protruding from those chunky gold rings point up. It’s an incredibly bold, almost dangerous look – with the heft and almost rough, organic feel of the thick gold rings and the strong color contrast of the rich yellow gold and darker elements, these are pieces that cannot be overlooked.
They’re crazy and bold and I think they’re freaking amazing. They have almost a kind of primordial feeling, don’t you think? Like maybe these rings just grew this way out of a creepy swamp where dangerous, man-eating flowers grow. I mean that in a really good way, though.
Don’t want a big hulking statement ring? You can also enjoy TAP By Todd Pownell’s aesthetic in subtler ways, as these bracelets demonstrate. They’re slender but noteworthy, with their rough edges, rich texture and chunky diamonds.
I also have to tell you that I was wearing a black and gold sweater to this event, and this stack went so well with my look that I had to resist the urge to hand over my credit card right then and there for the sake of outfit fate.
I tried my best to take a decent photo of this magnificent, crater-like pendant, but the pavillion-up diamonds are tricky. They look like spikes, which makes them cool, but they also catch the light in the most fascinating and beautiful way. It’s nearly impossible to catch it in action: you just need to have the piece in your hand and look at with your own eyes.
Here’s another TAP by Todd Pownell pendant adorned with those beautiful, dangerous, protruding diamond spikes. When you look at these pieces, you don’t even realize at first how unusual they are. You might see that the nature of the diamonds’s sparkle is a little unusual, but then you go in for a closer look and:
BAM. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
What do you think of TAP by Todd Pownell’s unique look, my darlings? If you love the collection like I do – can you see yourself wearing these bold pieces, or would you just admire them from afar?
Thanks to Todd Pownell for taking the time to talk to me and letting me take so many photos of his fabulous pieces at GlobalDESIGN! I look forward to seeing more of your work, Todd.
