I did the most fabulous thing the other day.

When I heard that my local Mervis Diamonds was having a Tacori trunk show, I couldn’t resist a chance to see the full line in person. (You know I love Tacori.) I mentioned to Tacori that I was going to the trunk show, Tacori called my local Mervis, and the next thing I knew I was getting a personal tour through Tacori’s designs from their Director of Sales, Mr. Nabil Walden.

And, Nabil, the world’s most patient and good-natured man, let me try on absolutely everything.

I know, photo self. It is that exciting.

The Mervis show room at the DC location is elegant and linear, the main lobby adorned by precisely-lit jewelry glowing in glass cases. I came armed with my phone, my camera, and my two accomplices; my sister, Laura, and our friend Nora were my assistant photographers and fellow hand models for the day. The atmosphere was delectable. We stepped inside and were immediately greeted by a succession of friendly Mervis employees who wanted to pour us mimosas and offer us samples of wedding cake.

Don’t worry, I took pictures.

I’m not going to attempt to tell you exactly which styles of rings are in the pictures in the post; I looked at too many to keep them all straight. If you fall in love with anything, please get in touch with Tacori or Mervis and I’m sure they can help you identify (and purchase, if your heart desires) anything here that speaks to you.

One of my favorite parts of the Tacori trunk show was the men who were there looking at engagement rings. I remember on in particular: his girlfriend wanted a three stone ring with princess cut diamonds. He picked up a ring to look at it more closely and his hand shook as he held it closer to his face. I wanted to give him a hug, but I restrained myself. (Not completely. I did tell him it was a pretty setting.) I was touched by how much he was feeling just looking at a ring that could possibly be the one he uses to propose to his future wife.

My sister and I fell hard for these two beauties. She liked the round, I liked the cushion cut. Aren’t the scalloped sides lovely? The crescent shape is Tacori’s signature design element; you can find it reflected in almost all of their pieces.

I just can’t get over the side of this ring (this is the same style as the photo above). Tacori’s details are beautiful online. In person, they’re impossibly delicate, perfectly subtle, and utterly breathtaking.

How incredible are these ribbon designs? Your eye just slides right along the curving sides and plops right onto the glorious center stones.

I didn’t know if Nora was showing me her rings here or warning me away, but it made for a great picture. (It would actually have been pretty painful to be hit by someone wearing that many rings, so I’m lucky she didn’t follow through.)
