I’m often a fan of intricate, detailed jewelry – especially from years gone by – but sometimes I come across a modern collection that uses simplicity to such great effect that it just blows my mind. Rachel Atherley’s Peacock Collection is a perfect example of this kind of streamlined artistic brilliance.
I first saw this collection on Rachel Atherley’s Instagram quiiiite a while ago and I’ve been low key obsessed with it ever since.
Do you see what I mean by by brilliant simplicity? Large, faceted gemstone spears set carefully into a golden half-circle that is delicately suspended from another precisely shaped gold element and earring surmount. You can tell how much thought went into this design just be looking at it.
That remarkable multi-hued gemstone is fluorite. It is beautifully calming and lovely.
The collection offers a few different earring and necklace styles in both fluorite, like above, and in pretty blue kyanite, like this necklace on the right. Like the earrings, the necklaces in the Rachel Atherley Peacock collection emanate an effortless feeling of accidental perfection.
The kyanite pieces don’t have that incredible stripe effect that I love so much in the fluorite, but the variations in the gorgeous blue gemstone are just as alluring in its own way. The kyanite is a beautiful neutral and would go with absolutely everything. It’s also alluringly translucent. as you can see in this video from Meeka Fine Jewelry’s Instagram.
That video also reveals that those magnificent gems actually move slightly, rather that being completely static. That hint of movement adds an exciting new dimension to the whole collection.
I’ve never met these particular jewels in person, but I thoroughly enjoy gazing at them from afar.
