Hello, beautiful ring. No subtlety here: a big honking pink diamond with more diamonds on either side. To get more specific, you’re looking at a 7.09 carat Fancy pink diamond – a type IIa, to be precise. This is an incredibly rare stone of exceptional quality. And it’s flanked on either side by two shield or bullet-cut diamonds, totaling 1.04 carats and both graded E color and VS1 clarity.

To summarize, this is one hell of a ring.

This ring is very straightforward and extremely pretty.  Sort of the girl-next-door of exceptionally high-quality pink diamond rings, if one can say such a thing. I am in deep, passionate love with it. It is centered by a cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut fancy light pink diamond weighing 3.03 carats, which is flanked by two modified triangular-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat.

You don’t need me to tell you that this baby is fabulous.  It would probably have its own post, if only the Sotheby’s zoom picture were not shamefully blurry. It’s really extraordinary.

It centers an oval modified brilliant-cut fancy light pink diamond weighing 3.56 carats, flanked on each side by a tapered baguette fancy blue diamond weighing 0.30 and 0.31 carat respectively. That’s a whole lot of rare diamond right there, decorated by a brilliant-cut diamond-set border extending to the shoulders, mounted in platinum and 18 karat pink gold.

This spectacular ring is a bit of a deviation from the rest of the rings in this post, for obvious reasons. The center stone here is an extremely rare modified pear double rose-cut fancy vivid blue diamond weighting 5 carats. The incredible center stone is surrounded by 6.69 carats of briolette diamonds and brilliant cut pink diamonds.

It’s the only ring here to feature multiple pink diamonds. Fabulous.

Ring roundup: emeralds with friends.

One of my favorite things about emeralds is how they pop when they’re well placed with other gemstones. Let’s take a look.

I pinned this ring on Pinterest ages ago and I’ve been trying to find the original source again so that I could show it to you on here…and I finally found it!

Isn’t it gorgeous? Not the best picture, but you can tell what it looks like. I’d wear it all the time. It’s set with an emerald-cut sapphire measuring approx. 10.40 x 9.20 x 6.10 mm, flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds and framed by fancy-cut emeralds. Unique shape, stunning color combination. An example of a ring I would go to great lengths to buy rather than just admiring. Divine.

This Art Deco emerald and diamond ring is another long-time favorite and another that I would dearly love to own (this is rapidly becoming a dangerous post). Just look at that delicate composition, the perfect marriage of colors, shapes and textures. This ring, circa 1920, “glistens with a bright-green central emerald-cut emerald and four half-moon emeralds lovingly framed in platinum and teeny-tiny rose-cut diamonds.” I adore it.

This Art Deco ring has the same color combination as the first one but a very different design. The navette-shaped, diamond-adorned setting centers a 1.40 carat deep blue sapphire, accented by an outer border of calibre-cut emeralds. I think the contrast of the thin line of green with the intense pop of blue and the light sparkle of the diamonds makes for a lively, eye-catching and lovely piece.

This Oscar Heyman cocktail ring is an estate piece – it looks like it’s at least inspire by the fabulous vintage cocktail rings of the 50’s and 60’s, but it could just be the chunky, colorful Oscar Heyman signature. The ring centers a 1.38 carat diamond surrounded by 1.18 carats of additional diamonds and 6.29 carats total of emeralds and sapphires.

This ring is a little different from the others in one obvious way; its emerald is a cabochon. It’s undated, but it looks to me like it has some Edwardian influence in the design. As I mentioned, it centers a deep-green emerald cabochon (5.10 cts) surrounded by cabochon sapphires (1.70 cts) and set in white gold adorned with diamonds. Fabulous.

Ring roundup: Art Deco engagement rings.

I think we’ve known each other long enough by now that you can suspect how excited I am to write this post. I’m rather in love with all of these. If only I had more fingers (and money).

Without further ado: Art Deco engagement rings.

I really love this one. I think the shape of it is just gorgeous – almost floral in outline, but in a geometric way. This ring is circa 1920s-1930s, centered by a 1.40 carat European-cut diamond with a spready cut that gives it the outline of a 1.75 carat diamond. The diamond is flanked on each side with sparkling geometrically designed shoulders leading down to hand-engraved details adorning the top half of the ring shank. I think the way the shoulders lead into the engraving on the ring shank is just perfection.

This little beauty centers a very fine 1.13 carat European cut diamond set in a square box head with both baguette and round cut diamonds surrounding in a geometric platinum setting. It has a low profile and a beautiful overall silhouette. I just love the delicate shoulders.

This lovely ring has a relatively low diamond carat count but it’s so sprinkled with sparklers that it would definitely still catch the eye. The center diamond is the largest, at .15 carats, with smaller accent diamonds throughout the rest of the geometric millegrain setting.

This one is classic Art Deco, and so pretty. As Lang puts it, “Three sparkling diamond-studded steps lead up to a bright and beautiful European-cut diamond, weighing .60 carat, in this sleek and sophisticated, original Art Deco engagement ring, crafted in platinum circa 1930s.”
