Good morning, my dears! We’re going to talk about one of my favorite jewelry wardrobe elements today: the ear jacket.
What is an ear jacket? An ear jacket is a decorative piece that you add onto an existing earring (usually by fitting it onto the back of a stud earring once the stud is in your ear).
Why are ear jackets awesome? Because they’re all it takes to transform every single earring you have into the potential of two completely different looks. They’re the perfect item for a treat on a budget: one purchase suddenly gives you dozens of new earring looks to try.
Here I am wearing a pair of pearl studs and a pair of opal studs along with a $22 pair of goldtone ear jackets from BaubleBar. The studs that came with these were obviously cheap and I gave them away; the ear jackets I regularly pair with diamonds and the compliments shower down on me.
All of my ear jackets are pretty cheap. This is for two reasons:
First, because of where they’re worn, ear jackets don’t experience much wear and it’s hard to get a close enough look at them to tell that they’re cheap.
Second: I’m not confident enough that I’ll want to wear my trendy ear jackets forever that I feel ready to invest much of my (currently minuscule) jewelry budget in fine ones.
Now that I’ve convinced you want some, I’ll show you some you can buy right now without feeling guilty.
I give you: ear jackets under $35.
Star ear jackets from Noir Jewelry’s Jem and the Holograms collection ($30).
BaubleBar’s Vertical Fang ear jackets ($32).
Tara May ear jackets by Benique, available in rose or yellow gold plated ($26).
Capwell + Co’s Socialite ear jackets in black onyx ($35).
Triangulum Jacket earrings from BaubleBar, in both black and gold ($32).
