Good morning, my dears!
You remember when I told you I was going to visit Lang Antiques and asked if there was anything you particularly wanted to see? I didn’t forget you while I was jewelrying on the West coast. I’m still going through all of the glorious photos I brought home, but I thought I’d give you another taste (of antique diamond rings).
On the left, we have the Edwardian-style D color diamond ring that is one of my most popular posts of all time. On the right, the Art Deco marquise diamond engagement ring of reader Erin’s dreams. (Erin, you have fabulous taste.)
I cheated a little bit in the post title because one of these is antique-style, not actually an antique. But “Two diamond rings, one of which is antique and one of which reflects Edwardian design aesthetics” just didn’t sound as snappy.
Here’s the antique Art Deco marquise alone, on my thumb. I think the true beauty of this piece is in its lightness and the delicacy of the line it creates. It’s so elegant, so refined.
The Art Deco marquise turned out to have on of the most bewitching profiles I’ve ever seen. Look at those side details! I still can’t get over the visual appeal of that scalloped openwork gallery.
Now, the other ring. This is the antique-style piece, which means it’s contemporary but is inspired by antique designs. You’ve seen it before in this post (and on my Instagram).
I have to admit, seeing this ring in person surprised me. It was lighter than I’d expected. The wealth of detail visible on Lang’s website photos of this beauty led me to expect a heavier-feeling piece.
That’s not to suggest that I was disappointed. Far from it. An exceptional center stone in a unique and beautiful setting; what’s not to like?
Both of the antique diamond rings in this post are available at Lang Antiques. The photos are my own work.
