Today’s post is going to be what I think of as a #DitLClassic post: we’re going to round up a whole bunch of glorious antique and vintage engagement rings and drool over them together.
My love for antique and vintage engagement rings is extremely well documented, from the 1930’s platinum beauty on my own ring finger to the many many antique and vintage engagement rings I’ve featured over the years. There’s nothing like the romance, the history, the individuality of a vintage engagement ring. Sigh.
These vintage engagement rings come from a few of my favorite stores; please see the description below each ring for information on where it can be found. Please remember that vintage engagement rings are one of a kind, but don’t despair if you find that these beauties have sold – it’s still worth reaching out to the seller to see if they might have something similar that you might end up loving even more.
Let’s dive in.
13 vintage engagement rings to dream about.
This ring brings clean, lovely perfection. It’s streamlined but still has a lush feel, thanks to its plump diamond and delicately engraved shank. It also has a very pretty gallery, with those slender arch-like openwork details visible from the side. This beauty is Edwardian era and it features a 3.46 carat Edwardian carré diamond.
This vintage engagement ring is from Lang Antiques.
This next ring turns the glamour volume alllllllllll the way up. A magnificent Art Deco engagement ring with a 3.03 ct Marquise diamond, set in platinum, with a wonderfully eye-catching halo of verdant green calibré cut emeralds. Circa 1920.
This vintage engagement ring is from Victor Barbone.
I love an engagement ring with color! This beauty would have a wonderfully significant finger presence, with its wide diamond-strewn yellow gold shoulders, beautifully cut antique blue sapphire, and halo of old cut diamonds. I personally have a huge weakness for antique diamond halos like this one: the chubby, chunky diamonds all reflect the light and compliment each other in the most luscious way.
This ring dates to the Victorian era, with a 2.75ct sapphire surrounded by diamonds. From Trumpet and Horn.
Here’s another ring with a quiet but very powerful allure. This stunning Victorian engagement ring dates to the mid 1800’s. It features a beautifully cut 1.60 ct rose cut diamond, and its yellow gold shank is adorned with swirls of black enamel.
This vintage engagement rings is from Victor Barbone.
Here’s a cool ring! This ring has fantastic finger coverage that it creates in a unique way: by featuring three long, slender baguette diamonds side by side. The effect is extraordinarily glamorous; the three baguettes together are about as wide as a 4 carat stone would be. I also want to draw your attention to the baguettes on the shoulder, which I think are a very key detail in the ring’s overall effect.
This piece is from the height of the Art Deco period, circa 1925. This ring is from Lang Antiques.
This ring is a perfect example of what I think a lot of people visualize when they think of vintage engagement rings. It’s bold, whimsical, and beautifully detailed – and how about that center stone?? It’s a 3 carat Old European cut diamond.
This ring is from Era Gem.
Here’s a vintage engagement ring with a breathtakingly modern feel. This stunner dates to 1925, the height of the Art Deco era, and it embodies the striking geometric style that era is known for. It features both an antique diamond and a blue Burmese sapphire. You know you love that pop of color.
This ring is from Victor Barbone.
This is another Art Deco era ring! It is actually somewhat similar in silhouette to the previous ring, but it has a completely different vibe, with its romantic, engraved shank and almost floral openwork details. That center stone is 1.28 carats, but the magnificent setting makes it feel even larger.
This ring is from Lang Antiques.
Here’s another eye-catching vintage engagement ring with enamel details! This ring has a lot in common with the enamel adorned-ring above, except that this one features a smaller center stone of different cut and vivid blue enamel! This ring’s center stone is just under a carat, but the dramatic detailing around its setting makes sure that the stone shows to its best advantage.
It’s worth mentioning that enamel isn’t the most durable decoration. Enamel can be scratched and it needs to be handled with a little extra care. If you’re someone who likes to wear your engagement ring all the time, no matter what you’re doing, a vintage engagement ring with enamel details probably isn’t right for you.
This ring is from Victor Barbone.
Another fantastic example of a vintage engagement ring with a pop of color! This pretty pretty ring features a wonderful 2 carat antique cushion cut diamond in an ornate filigree setting, with beautiful openwork on the sides. This ring has lovely green side stones, which are synthetic emeralds. The use of synthetic accent stones next to real diamonds was a frequent design choice in the Art Deco era and it’s very cool to see these pieces still around today.
This ring from Era Gem.
This lovely ring has a particularly dynamic silhouette: it arcs across the finger, creating a wide and gently tapered band of beauty, rather than curving in around the diamond. The 1.78 carat European cut center stone is surrounded by an ethereal array of delicate platinum openwork, which I personally find fully irresistible.
This piece is Art Deco, circa 1920. It is a signed piece, which means that we know it was made it! It was created by San Francisco jeweler Granat Bros.
This ring is from Lang Antiques.
Do we have any colored diamond fans in the house?? This Edwardian era stunner features a PINK diamond: a GIA Certified 1.50ct old European cut diamond of Fancy Brownish Pink color, to be specific. It’s a beautiful and very low-profile setting – that means it sits close to the finger, instead of being tall – with elegant details and the most wonderful marquise-cut side stones on the shoulders. It is very rare to see fancy colored diamonds in vintage engagement rings.
This ring is from Victor Barbone.
Did I save the best for last? That depends on your point of view, but I love this Edwardian era ring SO MUCH that it actually hurts my heart a little bit to look at it. This cut of diamond is affectionately known as a “moval” and it’s a very unique sort of pointy oval or weird pear. It sounds ridiculous when I try to describe it, but I think it’s heart-shatteringly gorgeous.
This beautiful split-shank ring is made of platinum and 18K yellow gold. Its glorious center stone is 2.86 carats. The piece strongly resembles Tiffany & Co styles of the era, but past repairs have made it impossible to verify the maker’s mark.
This ring is from Lang Antiques.
Ooh, that felt good. We’re definitely to going to have to another ones of these posts soon.

It is just a fantabulous blog from you, and it will help other buyers and investors get a better idea for purchasing an engagement ring in retail and wholesale.
Most importantly, the step-cut oval diamond ring is stunning. So keep writing this type of article.

i will happily be the recipient of any of these…
