What is jewelry market week?

I’m headed out in a few days to one of the jewelry industry’s biggest events: Jewelry Market Week in Vegas.

If you’re not in the industry yourself, you probably don’t know what I’m talking about. After all, the event really doesn’t have an official name – to most who go, it’s just “Vegas” or “the Vegas shows.”

Jewelry Market Week refers to the time of the year in which most of the major North American jewelry trade shows have events in the same place, at the same time. That means that jewelry brands and designers – and even antique dealers – from all over the world bring their wares to large buying events happening simultaneously, and retailers converge en mass to snap up the most glorious treasures to stock in their stores.

Nearly all of Jewelry Market Week is trade-only, meaning you have to be a retailer or a wholesaler to get access, but I’m lucky enough to be one of the members of the press who is invited to attend.

It’s glittering, sparkling, bustling chaos, and I will be right in the middle of it, documenting the best of the best to share with you.

I’m going to take a couple of weeks off from regularly scheduled blog posts now so that I have time to prepare for Jewelry Market Week, focus on it once I’m there, and recover/go through my many thousands of photos once I return!
