Diamond + filigree = true love.
4.36 carat pink diamond ring.
This 4.36 carat pink diamond ring is 5-year-old me’s idea of perfection. And you know what? 5-year-old me still has a pretty powerful voice when I’m confronted with something pink and sparkly. Especially when it’s something this good.
The glorious pink center stone is accentuated by further bling; 1.08 carats total weight of colorless and pink full cut round diamonds. This would be quite an engagement ring.
This 4.36 carat pink diamond ring also has some thoughtful and surprising details in unexpected places, which means I love it even more. And how lovely are the mixed metals in this piece? A big pink ring that is much more than just a big pink ring.

Pink diamond and diamond ring, Oscar Heyman and Bros.
Have I mentioned that pink is my favorite color? Stereotypical of me, perhaps, but I just think it’s the prettiest.
Yeah. I’m having a hard time forming coherent sentences with that baby on the screen. This pink diamond and diamond ring is centered by a remarkable stone, an oval-shaped Fancy Intense Pink diamond weighing approximately 6.54 carats. The pink diamond is flanked by two half moon-shaped diamonds weighing 2.21 carats. It’s the work Oscar Heyman & Brothers, so you can rest assured that the craftsmanship is flawless.
I think that the half-moon shaped sides diamonds are the perfect cut: look how they flank the glorious pink center oval. Nothing else would have had the same effect.
For the record, this pink diamond and diamond ring is the perfect size for my finger. In the dream world in my head, this would be my ultimate “treat yourself” present. (I’ve been watching a lot of Parks and Rec. Don’t you love that show? I want to be friends with Amy Poehler only slightly less than I want to wear this ring every day.)

2.90 carat antique cushion-cut diamond engagement ring
I tend to go for squarish diamonds over roundish, but there are exceptions. And this Edwardian solitaire engagement ring is one of them.
Isn’t it great? It was made in 1915. I think the contrast of that 2.90 carat antique cushion-cut diamond with the delicately engraved platinum ring is wonderful. It has a gorgeous gallery, too.
It’s a little tricky to tell, but the filigree of the gallery actually forms a fleur-de-lys motif. And please note that that hand-engraving goes absolutely all around the ring.
The Lang Antiques’ description sums up this antique cushion-cut diamond engagement ring by saying, “Understated elegance par excellence.” 2.90 carats is a lot of sparkle power for “understated,” but I still think the phrase suits the design of the ring, if not the size of the diamond, perfectly.

Ring roundup: contemporary diamond rings.
My love for antique jewelry is well established, but I want to be sure I don’t ignore the plethora of beautiful contemporary diamond rings that the world has to offer.
This regal princess of a contemporary diamond ring is by Michael M.
A very high profile – I’d be worried it would always be getting snagged on things in my purse – but it’s so pretty it’s probably worth it. I know that halos are very big right now, but I think this kind of design can encompass the same ornate feel in a more unique way. Not that I don’t like halos, but there’s something to be said for variety. This versatile setting can hold almost any cut of diamond.
Graff signature pink diamond engagement ring, set with a 5.03ct cushion-cut diamond on a pink diamond rose gold band. I mean…look at it. So fabulous.

Vintage diamond filigree engagement ring.
This is just the prettiest little engagement ring I ever did see.
I don’t normally go for gold engagement rings, but the lacy filigree and mixed-metal loveliness of this one charms me right down to my boots.
This ring is listed as “vintage” but not dated any more specifically than that. It’s made of platinum over 14 karat yellow gold. A .25 carat European cut diamond is bead set into a hexagonal head on top of a spectacular yellow gold filigree mounting.
The filigree, as you can see, continues all around the ring and then phases into fluted engraving on the shank.
This vintage diamond filigree engagement ring was sold to some lucky person by Lang Antiques and is available for oogling in the Lang Antiques archive. All images and info are thanks to Lang.
