This Paraiba tourmaline necklace is my favorite piece of Michele Della Valle’s whimsical work that I’ve featured on the blog so far. No one who knows me will be shocked by the color scheme that is about to happen.
Yes, this Paraiba tourmaline necklace looks like cotton candy. Yes, it is what the queen My Little Pony would wear. I don’t care. It is the prettiest, and I love it.
This necklace is designed as a gently graduated line set with oval Paraiba tourmalines and circular-cut pink sapphires highlighted with brilliant-cut diamonds.
Not only is it extra-super-pretty (this is going to be the level of writing today, deal with it) but it’s really impressive from a gemstone standpoint. Those minty jewels are Paraiba tourmalines, which are extremely rare.
This wonderful Paraiba tourmaline necklace was listed in Sotheby’s July 2011 Fine Jewels sale. All images and info are thanks to Sotheby’s.

Extra-super-pretty indeed! I love that it doesn’t look excessive (wear-once-in-a-lifetime kind of excessive) but if you look close, it’s pure luxury! And it’s so sweet! I love it.
I’m so happy that I’ve found this blog. I lust over jewelry and live for consuming literature, too. I’m going to be a loyal follower! Keep posting these beauties!

I completely agree about it not being excessive – it’s a treasure, but one you could find more than once occasion to wear.
Thank you so much for the comment! You’re very sweet, and I hope I hear more from you.
