You may have seen Mouawad’s L’Incomparable diamond necklace floating around the Internet – I have, but I hadn’t found a picture worth showing you until this one showed up on The Jewellery Editor.
I’ve shown you serious necklaces before, but they really just cannot get more serious than this.
It’s absolutely as incredible as you think it is. This baby – which Mouawad has christened “L’incomparable diamond necklace,” or, modestly, “the incomparable” has secured itself a place in the Guinness book of world records as the world’s most valuable necklace. I don’t usually discuss price tags, but this one’s worth a mention: $55 million.
Most of that dollar amount comes from the incomparable diamond center stone. It’s a modified shield step-cut IF natural fancy deep yellow diamond weighing, to quote The Jewellery Editor, a “mighty” 407.48 carats. This internally flawless stone was discovered by accident, by a little girl playing with what was believed to be a pile of rubble (hopefully she was given something for her troubles).
Here, the shining golden stone is in good company: Mouawad has set it among 637 carats of other diamonds, including 90 exceptional white diamonds in a variety of cuts and carat weights.
All images and info in this post are thanks to The Jewellery Editor.
