Magnificent and rare emerald and diamond tiara.

That title is straight from the Sotheby’s auction, but it was so appropriate that I couldn’t bring myself to edit it. You should be sitting down before you look at this this emerald and diamond tiara. And breathing deeply. Ready?

This incredibly beautiful, impossibly stunning emerald and diamond tiara was previously owned by a bona fide princess, Princess Katharina Henckel Von Donnersmarck.

This emerald and diamond tiara is of foliate and floral inspiration. The base is set with a central row of eleven large cushion-shaped diamonds, each collet set between pairs of muguets (aka Lily of the Valley). Below this row is a line of laurel leaf motifs and above it are festooned ribbons, all pierced and millegrain set throughout with rose and brilliant-cut diamonds.

The tiara is surmounted by a row of eleven polished pear-shaped emeralds, totaling approximately 500 carats, graduated in size from the center, each emerald drilled and held in diamond set cusp motifs, the nine largest tipped by rose diamonds, mounted in silver and gold. The emeralds are detachable.

This to-die for emerald and diamond tiara was sold in Sotheby’s May 2011 Magnificent and Noble Jewels sale for a record-breaking $11,912,064 . All images and info are thanks to Sotheby’s unless otherwise noted.

Art Deco emerald and diamond fringe necklace.

This necklace is really exceptional. It wouldn’t surprise me if I’ve started a blog post with that exact statement before, but there are only so many positive adjectives in the world. What’s a jewelry-loving girl to do?

The listing describes this necklace as a “unique, fun and festive fringe necklace”, and I can’t give it a better introduction than that. This feather-light necklace sparkles with 49 separate fringes of Colombian emeralds and old mine cut diamonds. The fringes cover the entire visible portion of the necklace, which turns into diamond backchain with a beautiful Art Deco clasp at the back.

Art Deco diamond and emerald bracelet by J.E. Caldwell.

You know my feelings about Art Deco bracelets. You also know my feelings about J.E. Caldwell. Therefore, we should all be excited after looking at the title of this post.

Made in 1930 by J.E. Caldwell and Co, this bracelet is set with three oval-shaped cabochon emeralds, each within a circular-cut diamond plaque. The emeralds alternate with openwork circular and baguette-cut diamond panels, mounted in platinum. Isn’t it glorious? The roundness of the cabochon emeralds is the perfect contrast with the geometric brightness of the diamond patterns.
