I have been a busy bee lately, but I haven’t been to the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show (yet) in 2014.
The jewelry treasures I’m about to share with you are the ones I saw last year, at the 2013 show. I’ve shown you a lot of them on Instagram, but I decided that there were such beauties in that batch of photos that they deserved their own post.
Plus, what better way to get excited about this year’s show (late August!) than to revisit the highlights of the prior one?
This sapphire and diamond beauty above is an Art Deco engagement ring at Chas Schwartz & Son. Isn’t the side detail incredible?
The Baltimore Summer Antiques show is large but not overwhelming, the selection was gorgeous and the vendors were friendly. It’s held in the Baltimore convention center, so it’s easy to get to and there are lots of other things to do nearby. You should definitely check it out this year if you’re in the area.
This lovely carved jade and diamond brooch was also at Chas Schwartz & Son. As was this beauty:
I only managed to photograph this antique emerald and diamond pendant from a strange angle, but I still had to show you. Look at the gold-set emerald, the tiny twinkling diamonds, the majestic bow on top! And let’s not forget this one:
This three stone antique diamond ring took my breath away. Look at those diamonds, and that setting!
This antique gold and diamond necklace was one of the first pieces I saw. Simply lovely (at “Nice Things” Estate Jewelry).
I show you a lot of rings, so while I was at the Baltimore Summer Antiques show I made an effort to photograph necklaces. How do you like this one? It’s from R&R Estate Buyers at Abbot’s in Michigan.
R&R had some really glorious pieces, including some of my favorite rings of the day. How do you like this trio?
Here’s an incredible antique parure from Lenore Dailey. And in a fitted box!
These two were at L and Z antique and estate jewelers. These beauties very nearly came home with me.
A lovely row of antique gold lavalier necklaces with pearls and gemstones. One of these did come home with me. Can you guess which one?
This incredible tanzanite and diamond ring was already sold by the time I stopped by Sergio’s, but they very kindly showed it to me anyway. Isn’t it a beauty?
They had some lovely antiques there too, like this bar pin converted into a pair of earrings.
And also this fabulous conversion: a brooch with a bouquet of antique stick pins in a thimble.
This particular antique emerald and diamond ring has haunted my dreams since I tried it on that day. The bow detail in the filigree hurts my heart, it’s so beautiful.
It was at The Gold Hatpin, as was this beauty:
Can you tell I like bright colors and tiny details? But you probably knew that already.
This fairy queen of a necklace – opals, diamonds, filigree – was at Blue Pearl Estate Jewelry. It took a serious effort to hand this one back.
One more from Chas Schwartz & Son because who could resist a classic Deco beauty like this?
And last, but certainly not least, here’s what came home with me:
If you couldn’t tell, the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show is fantastic. If you’re there in August, keep an eye out for me. I’m definitely going back.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to the vendors of the 2013 Baltimore Summer Antiques show for letting me play with and photograph their beautiful wares. I’m coming to see you again in August!
