I’m so pleased that I can finally show you these earrings! I’ve had them on my hidden “to blog about” Pinterest board for ages, but the pin had a bad link – to a page unconnected to the auction listing – and you know I don’t blog about things when I don’t have a source for them.
Well, my detective work finally paid off, and now that I know where these glorious emerald, onyx, diamond, and turquoise earrings came from, we can admire them together!
Hello, lovers.
These matched beauties are three inches long overall, and feature luscious blue turquoise alongside gemmy green emeralds, rich black onyx, and sparkling old cut diamonds.
Thanks to Instagrammer Kayla Rimmon, we a have a glimpse of what these beauties look like in real life and on a person. In my opinion, they’re pretty much perfect. And they meet my most important personal earring requirement: they would show up in my hair.
Everything about these earrings looks Art Deco to me – the color combination of the emerald, turquoise, and diamonds with onyx; the vaguely Egyptian-influenced feeling of the overall design; the fact that diamonds are old-cut (rose cuts in the bottom, other old cuts at the top).
But the Christie’s listing doesn’t give a date, and I haven’t seen them in person, so I can’t definitively declare them antique. I can just tell you that it wouldn’t surprise me if they were. (Our Instagram friend above agrees with me – she tagged the post as “#ArtDeco.”
These emerald, onyx, diamond, and turquoise earrings were listed in a recent Christie’s auction. All images and info are thanks to Christie’s, unless otherwise specified.
