Ebay watchlist: sunshine edition.

It’s the warmest day DC’s seen in a while, so I’m in a good mood. I’ve decided to celebrate with another edition of Ebay watchlist! Because: why not?

Three Fabergé emerald and diamond rings.

The amazing Fabergé emerald rings you’re about to see come from Fabergé’s Solyanka collection, a collection with a very cool story behind it:

“This collection of majestic single stone rings, each set with a spectacular coloured stone in an exquisitely refined diamond mount, is inspired by the story of the Solyanka treasure, a hoard of original Fabergé jewels discovered in 1990 in an old Moscow mansion at 13 Solyanka Street.

The jewels, of platinum, gems and pearls, many still with their Fabergé price tags attached, were found inside two battered, old candy tins, wrapped in decayed pre-Revolutionary posters. The Moscow mansion had once been owned by a wealthy merchant, connoisseur, and Fabergé client, known as the ‘Sugar King’. As the Russian Revolution took hold, the jewels were carefully hidden in a wall, under a windowsill, only to be discovered once again so many years later during renovation of the mansion.”

First we have the Fabergé Solyanka emerald ring. This gorgeous piece is centered by a rare and beautiful 13.73 carat emerald. The ring itself is highly embellished, with stylised swags and finely tapered baguette drapes on all sides, with impeccably cut and set tapered square cut diamonds at the sides and inside edges of the shank also rimmed with diamonds. This piece is set in platinum and features 14 baguette diamonds and 251 round diamonds totalling 5.62 carats.

Via Diamonds in the Library.This is perhaps the most opulent of the three Fabergé emerald and diamond ring, the Solyanka cabochon emerald and diamond ring. It is centered by a 14.50ct cabochon-cut emerald, set in platinum and featuring 263 white diamonds. The emerald was ethically sourced from Gemfields’ Zambian mines. It is a doozy of a ring, to put it lightly. This piece recently appeared on the red carpet on the hand of the lovely Naomi Watts at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards:

The Fabergé Solyanka Vera ring. The center stone is an ethically mined 8.27ct Gemfields cushion-cut emerald set in 18ct white gold and surrounded by 129 diamonds for a total diamond weight of 1.81ct. Via Diamonds in the Library.

This is the Fabergé Solyanka Vera ring. It is the most delicate of the three, and it might be my personal favorite of the trio. The ring is named for Vera Kharitonenko, the widow of the Sugar King, in whose Moscow mansion in Solyanka Street, the hoard of Fabergé jewels was found in 1990. The center stone is an ethically mined 8.27ct Gemfields cushion-cut emerald. It’s set in 18ct white gold and surrounded by 129 diamonds for a total diamond weight of 1.81ct.

Ring roundup: emeralds with friends.

One of my favorite things about emeralds is how they pop when they’re well placed with other gemstones. Let’s take a look.

I pinned this ring on Pinterest ages ago and I’ve been trying to find the original source again so that I could show it to you on here…and I finally found it!

Isn’t it gorgeous? Not the best picture, but you can tell what it looks like. I’d wear it all the time. It’s set with an emerald-cut sapphire measuring approx. 10.40 x 9.20 x 6.10 mm, flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds and framed by fancy-cut emeralds. Unique shape, stunning color combination. An example of a ring I would go to great lengths to buy rather than just admiring. Divine.

This Art Deco emerald and diamond ring is another long-time favorite and another that I would dearly love to own (this is rapidly becoming a dangerous post). Just look at that delicate composition, the perfect marriage of colors, shapes and textures. This ring, circa 1920, “glistens with a bright-green central emerald-cut emerald and four half-moon emeralds lovingly framed in platinum and teeny-tiny rose-cut diamonds.” I adore it.

This Art Deco ring has the same color combination as the first one but a very different design. The navette-shaped, diamond-adorned setting centers a 1.40 carat deep blue sapphire, accented by an outer border of calibre-cut emeralds. I think the contrast of the thin line of green with the intense pop of blue and the light sparkle of the diamonds makes for a lively, eye-catching and lovely piece.

This Oscar Heyman cocktail ring is an estate piece – it looks like it’s at least inspire by the fabulous vintage cocktail rings of the 50’s and 60’s, but it could just be the chunky, colorful Oscar Heyman signature. The ring centers a 1.38 carat diamond surrounded by 1.18 carats of additional diamonds and 6.29 carats total of emeralds and sapphires.

This ring is a little different from the others in one obvious way; its emerald is a cabochon. It’s undated, but it looks to me like it has some Edwardian influence in the design. As I mentioned, it centers a deep-green emerald cabochon (5.10 cts) surrounded by cabochon sapphires (1.70 cts) and set in white gold adorned with diamonds. Fabulous.
